We are only too familiar with the sensation of discomfort after a meal, proof that our bodies are having difficulty digesting what we have eaten. And this can happen to absolutely anyone. It is in fact a very common problem, but that doesn’t make it any less unpleasant. It can manifest in several ways: pain, cramps, constipation, flatulence, etc. Fortunately, Granny and her plants are ever ready to come to your rescue, and here are 10 of the best plants to help you digest your food more easily.

1) Cumin

Cumin is a great natural antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory. If you are constipated or are having trouble with digestion, massage your tummy before the meal with a mixture made of 1 to 2 drops of cumin essential oil and honey or vegetable oil.

2) Turmeric

In the case of vomiting (or just nausea), or if you are suffering from abdominal pain, you can turn to turmeric. Bring 150 mls of water to the boil. Add 1 to 1.5 grams of turmeric and allow the mixture around ten minutes to infuse. Drink a cup or two per day.

3) Verbena

Verbena is good for stimulating digestion in the case of stomach cramps. You simply need to leave 6 leaves to infuse in a cup of hot water for ten minutes, to obtain a herbal tea that promotes digestion.

4) Peppermint

Peppermint helps with digestion thanks to its ability to help the muscles relax. Add 10 leaves to a cup of hot water and wait ten minutes before drinking it (to allow it to infuse). Strain it and drink it before a meal.

5) Black radish

Black radish is highly detoxing and can help re-establish normal functioning of the liver, in order to ensure better digestion. Over a maximum of 5 days, consume 1 teaspoon of black radish juice 2 to 6 times per day (depending on your needs).
