10 tips to get rid of milia (milk spots)

5/5 - (1 vote)

Annoying and not terribly attractive, these little fatty bubbles in the skin are very common and difficult to treat. Milia, or milk spots, are little cysts under the skin. Often around the eyes, these little spots are full of corneocytes -dead cells trapped under the skin that cause a small white spot called Milia, or milk spots. You can live with them and these little spots generally last a few months, but could take a while to clear up completely.

1) Steam

Soak a facecloth in hot water and press it to your face in order to open the pores, before applying a face mask to eliminate impurities. You can also expose your face to steam (using a pot of boiling water) for 20 minutes. To be repeated regularly to avoid recurrence.

2) Castor oil

This oil comes from Africa and contains castor, a plant with antibacterial properties that allows your skin to absorb sebum. Massage the affected area with castor oil, until it is absorbed, several times a week until the milia have disappeared.

3) Honey

Apply honey like a face mask and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing it off. Do this every day until you are happy with the results.

4) Cider vinegar and cornflour

Cider vinegar helps your skin to close the pores and the cornflour absorbs excess oils.

Mix one teaspoon of cider vinegar with three teaspoons of cornflour. Apply the solution to your face and leave it for 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water.

5) Rose water and sandalwood

By adding a little rose water to sandalwood powder, this creates a paste that you can use daily as a face mask. Leave it on for a quarter of an hour before rinsing.
