“Ouch, ouill, ouch, OUILLEEUH”. It does the same thing every time you put a little butter or oil in the bottom of the pan before you cook your fish or meat and you are attacked from all sides by burning splashes. If you have a purpose made lid, it may still happen that you burn yourself whilst you lift it off to turn your meat. There are two brilliant tricks to avoid spitting fats burning your arms, staining your clothes or dirtying your hob!
Using salt:
In your melted grease (butter or oil) add some salt
Wait a few seconds, until the spitting calms down as the salt will hold back the grease.
All you need to do it add your meat or fish, a bonus is that you won’t need to add any salt to season!
Using flour:
Like salt, flour will help stop cooking fats from spitting. It is a great alternative for those who are not wanting to use salt which can alter that taste of your food.
Like the salt, sprinkle a little flour onto the spitting fats. You then simple need to add your meat or fish and cook normally.
