20 tips for surviving scorching holiday heat

Let’s not beat about the bush: coming from a cooler climate, we are not always happy in the holiday heat. It’s hard to admit, after a year of fantasising about tropical beaches, but when we get there, we can feel tired, heavy and overheated….. So it’s important to have a few ideas for how to deal with it, and enjoy your two weeks in the sun. These 20 tips are simple but fantastically effective. Don’t hesitate to add them to your survival kit! 

1) Put your body lotion (or other skincare products) in the fridge for a blast of cool when you apply them.

2) During very hot periods, set the ceiling fan to turn in an anti-clockwise direction.

3) Put a drink in the freezer wrapped in a damp tissue to cool it down quickly.

4) Eat spicy foods to increase perspiration. This should have a cooling, soothing effect.

5) Keep your glasses or even your drinks in the freezer in order to always have a cold drink to hand.

6) Apply deodorant to the soles of your feet and wherever your shoes rub, to avoid blisters, odours and sweaty feet.

7) Keep your pot of ice cream in a freezer bag, to ensure the ice cream is always perfect and ready to eat.
