4 habits for intimate hygiene

Many studies have shown that it is very important to change your underwear every day to avoid infection. Our intimate parts are humid areas where bacteria can rapidly multiply, and it is strongly recommended that you take good care and change your underwear, and even your t-shirt (especially if it is damp) every day, in order to avoid any disagreeable effects. To further guide you, here are a few good habits to develop for excellent intimate hygiene.

1/ Give your genital area a quick wash once or twice a day. Your vagina is capable of self-cleaning, but it is important to maintain this cleanliness.

2/ Avoid soaps and aggressive cosmetic products. In fact, this can upset the ecosystem in your vagina and reduce the number of good bacteria which protect you from infection.

3/ Wash your underwear regularly, preferably by hand-washing. In order not to damage them, but while appreciating the importance of regular washing.

4/ Don’t forget the anal area. You should always go from front (the vagina) to back (the anus) when wiping and washing.

If you are still not convinced, here is a list of things that can happen if you don’t change your underwear daily and if you don’t take care of your intimate area:

  • Excessive itching
  • Skin breakouts and irritation
  • Strong embarrassing odours
  • Serious infections
  • Urinary infections (recognisable by a burning sensation when you pee).
