The bicarbonate of soda is non toxic, non-flammable, economical, natural and biodegradable. It is versatile and can be used for the maintenance of your home as well as for your health or your beauty. Here are some tips on how to use it, to maintain your home.

1) To clean your linen and remove bad odors, reduce the amount of washing powder/liquid by half and replace by two tablespoon of bicarb. You can also mix some with water and put into a bottle, spray onto your clothes before putting in the washing machine to remove stains.

2) To bring a shine to drinking glasses, silver, cooking hobs or stainless steel sinks, shake some powder onto a damp microfiber cloth and rub gentle then remove with another cloth.

3) Wash dishes which have tough stains with a damp sponge sprinkled with bicarbonate. You can also leave your dishes in hot water and bicarb overnight or bring the mixture to boil in your saucepans to remove crusty tough stains.

4) For your toilets, sprinkle onto the toilet bowl and into the bottom and add a little clear vinegar. This will cause a chemical reaction which you need to leave a little while to work. This will also help unblock your toilet!

5) You can make your own household cleaner by pouring into a bottle, 1 quarter water, 9 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 spoon of bicarbonate and your choice of essential oil for it to smell nice. You mix the ingredients together and let it rest for the chemical reaction to finish. Once there are no longer any bubbles, you can spray it to remove different areas and clean bathroom seals.

6) A small dish filled with bicarb in the fridge, a car that smells of tobacco or cheesy shoes will reduce the smell. You can also leave some at the bottom of a ash tray to fight against the smell.

7) To keep your flowers fresh for longer, mix a teaspoon of bicarb with some water and pour into your vase. Add your flowers with their stems trimmed at the bottom, change the water every other day.
