Many people are now turning away from commercial cleaning products in favour of more natural alternatives, without losing out on efficacy. This allows people to avoid the kinds of toxic products that we would prefer to keep away from our loved ones, and to use products whose odours don’t catch in the back of your throat every time you use them. Furthermore, it is great to have a cleaning product that can be easily used on all sorts of surfaces. Which is exactly what we are proposing today!
The base is of course water and white vinegar, but essential oils are also an important part of this cleaner. As well as the delicious odour they provide, they also have important properties which are always a plus. Rosemary essential oil can get rid of bacteria, germs and fungi. Lemon essential oil is an indispensable cleaning agent, and gets rid of toxins (it should never be used in its pure form on plastic, but it works wonders for removing label marks, polishing up wood and treating leather). Finally, cedarwood pure essential oil provides vitality and freshness. It is great for the mind, the skin and for all surfaces around the home. Here is how to make the mixture…
What you need:
- A glass or stainless steel spray bottle (500 mls or more)
- 60 mls of white vinegar
- 10 drops of rosemary essential oil
- 6 drops of lemon essential oil
- 8 drops of cedarwood essential oil
- Water
- A funnel
Method:
1) Pour the vinegar into your bottle, having measured out the required quantity.
2) Add essential oils. Take your time with the rosemary and lemon, which are thinner liquids and thus tend to run quite quickly – you don’t want to add too much!
3) Once you have done that, mix it well. Then add water to fill the bottle, close it and add a label to ensure the product is only used for cleaning. Shake well before each use.
