The problem of the worn out heel is extremely common, especially with mountain boots which are damaged because of the roughness of the ground. When it comes to discomfort, we sometimes feel that the only way out is to buy new shoes or go to the cobbler. With this trick, you will be able to keep your shoes for longer and save money.
What you will need:
- Rubber glue or special glue for rubber sole shoes
- Masking tape
- A flat plastic knife
- Something to hold the boot/ shoes upright and level
Method:
1) Protect your work surface
2) Using what you have available, prop up the shoe so that it stays in position, upright and level.
3) Using a strip of masking tape, position it around the heel, to create a dam.
4) Add a generous amount of glue, you can add some more later if needed.
5) Using a plastic knife (or ice cube) gently move the glue to the edge of your sole to level it out. It doesn’t matter if it is not perfectly even, as it will rub down to be even when you start walking. Leave to dry and then remove the masking tape.
