The candle is an object of decoration highly prized for the light that brings to the room, the heat of this little flame as well as its smell. Nevertheless, did you know that some of you aren’t using them as you should? Here are some tips for candle fans that will help you make your candle last longer.
1) To smell your candle
Smelling a candle when you are shopping for one, is the way you choose which one you want to buy, depending on its scent. However smelling the candle wax is not the correct way to sniff if you will like the smell!
If the candle has a lid of cover, it is the lid you should smell. It will give you a better scent.
If it is a wax to melt, the odor will be more concentrated below than above.
2) Maintain the flame
To avoid having too big a flame that will use the wax faster and make more black smoke that will make soot, carefully cut the wick to be shorter (between 6mm and 1cm, not more). Be careful not to break the wick by doing it, it is easier with a cotton wick but this remains an important gesture for the maintenance of the candle.
3) Avoid letting it burn for just 5 minutes
Letting the candle burn for just 5 min is a mistake because it uses wax for no reason as the odor will not have had time to develop. Count at least a quarter of an hour of use not to use candle wax for no reason and to enable it to create a scent.
4) For the wax to burn uniformly
Sometimes the wax melts only close to the flame, leaving lots of left over wax around the edge, which is a waste. Some try to tilt the candle but the process of melting is long and this gesture takes time work. If your candle has not burned evenly, here’s how to fix the problem.
Cut a piece of aluminum foil larger or smaller depending on the size of the candle. Fold in half or cut and place the aluminum around the candle to make a kind of dome. Allow to burn for about an hour (time may vary). You will see that your candle will have burned evenly.
