5/5 - (2 votes)

If detergents you normally use have become too expensive for you, and one of your new year’s decisions is to live in harmony with nature, did you know it is possible to save some money and protect the environment in which you live at the same time, and what is more, you can do this from the comfort of your home? Maybe you can make your own laundry powder? Not only that your home budget will be significantly lower, but you will also need much less powder to wash the same amount of laundry, and what is most importantly, you’ll know exactly with what you wash your underwear, after all, this is the clothing you wear closest to your skin. With a little effort and a small amount of your time, you can ensure only the best for you and your loved ones.

NECESSARY INGREDIENTS:

  • natural firm soap

  • baking soda

  • borax

  • washing soda (sodium carbonate)

Take natural firm soap and grate it with a grater. Then take a big dish where you should mix two measurement cups of borax with the same amount of the washing soda and one measurement cup of grated soap. If you want your laundry to be even more white, you can add 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda.

Borax is the common ingredient of the majority of soaps now available in the market, and it’s actually a salt of boric acid while washing soda is the sodium salt of carbonic acid. You can easily make this at home also. Put one kilo of the washing soda (sodium carbonate) in a baking dish and bake for approximately half an hour at 200°C until it turns colour and gets a grainy-like structure.

This earth friendly recipe is worth of your attention and you surely won’t regret it.
