In today’s world, a huge number of cleaning products exist for all sorts of uses, but as a result our planet is suffering. Therefore, it’s great to find alternatives to chemical products. Discover how to make a 100% natural detergent with only ashes and water. Its effectiveness is astonishing!
What you need:
- Clean, fine ashes from wood (white or grey in colour)
- A sheet of muslin cloth
- An old bucket that you don’t mind putting holes in
- A second perfectly clean bucket
What to do:
1/ First pierce holes in the bottom of your old bucket.
2/ Next, cover the bottom of the bucket with the muslin and add a fairly thick layer of ashes (three cups per litre of water).
3/ You need to hang the old bucket with the holes in it over the clean bucket.
4/ Pour the water into the bucket with the ashes in it, and in this way, it filters slowly through the ashes into the clean bucket.
5/ The material gathered in the clean bucket is your detergent. It should be brown in colour, and if you notice that the water running from the bucket on top is become clear, you can stop, it’s done!
6/ Transfer your liquid into a clean bottle (if you shake the bottle, you’ll see that it already foams up).
7/ For your next load of laundry, pour 100 mls of this liquid into the washing machine instead of your usual detergent.
It’s a detergent that works just as well for cleaning surfaces, cutlery and plates. For a nicer odour, add a few drops of essential oils.
