How frustrating it is not to be able to use certain pans, or not to be able to cook certain foods for fear they might stick to the pan! This is often linked to the fact that the pan is not hot enough when you put the food into it, which can become problematic when you are dealing with more fragile food, such as fish, eggs, etc. We end up therefore adding a large spoon of oil or butter to try and stop the food from sticking. And unfortunately, this technique doesn’t always work, and isn’t exactly the healthiest. We have a tip today that works like magic, and which will make food stuck to the pan a thing of the past. What’s more, it couldn’t be easier.
What you need:
- Coconut oil
- Table salt
- Kitchen paper
Method:
1) Put the pan on the heat (from a medium to a high heat) and add the coconut oil (one dessertspoon/12 grams).
2) Leave it to melt and turn the pan so that the oil covers the entire pan, including the sides.
3) Cover the base of the pan with salt.
4) With a paper towel, “polish” the pan, without forgetting the sides. Remove all of the salt with a clean sheet of kitchen paper.
Thanks to this technique, the pan will no longer stick. The result is not permanent: it will last for several uses, after which it will start to stick again. Note that you should sometimes add a little fat during cooking, because the thin film of coconut oil won’t be enough.
