Moss between your patio stones: Get rid of it with natural tips

If you have a lovely patio then it means that you have taken time to keep up its maintenance.  However it is easy to let things slide especially overtime and moss starts to take root in the crevasses of your patio tiles.  So how do you get rid of moss so your patio is ready for warmer months?  

You don’t need all the chemical products under the sun that you can find in the shops.  It is bad for the environment and unnecessary.  Luckily for us, there are other natural remedies that are just as effective.  In this article we will look at two natural tips.  You don’t need to look far as the ingredients are inexpensive and very effective!

1 – Citric Acid

What you need:

– 600 g citric acid

– 150 g bicarbonate of soda

– 20 ml rapeseed oil

– Big basin of warm water

Steps:

1) Pour 600 g of citric acid into your basin of warm water and then add 150 g of bicarbonate of soda.

2) Add you rapeseed oil next and mix everything so it s well incorporated.

3) Once your patio is dry you can pour your basin over your tiles so that the whole patio is covered in the liquid.  You should then leave for three days.

The moss should now be dry!  All you need to do now is to use water and a brush or a hose pipe to get rid of the dried moss.

2 – Bicarbonate of soda

What you need:

– 3  tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda

– 1 litre of warm water

Steps:

1) Pour your three tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda into your bucket filled with a litre of warm water.

2) Pour the bucket of water onto your patio an then use your brush to apply your mixture onto the surface.

3) By brushing, the moss you come away on it’s own.  You should then rinse with clear water.  It is as simple as that!
