Spray fragrances are a great way to create a pleasant atmosphere in your home, with their diverse and varied properties. The one we have for you today will help you purify the air in your home, and it also has considerable relaxing properties to calm you down after a stressful day at work, or simply after an emotionally trying time. The advantage of making your own spray to purify your home is that the ones sold in the shops claiming to be purifying, antibacterial or even insect repellent, often contain allergens or other toxic products. So in fact, they don’t purify your home at all – quite the opposite, in fact! In order to avoid polluting your interiors and so as not to be taken in by marketing tricks, go for this natural alternative instead.
What you need:
- 30 mls of 90% alcohol
- 70 mls of demineralised water
- 20 drops of sweet orange essential oil
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil
- 10 drops of bergamot essential oil
- 10 drops of fine lavender essential oil (from Provence)
- A glass spray flask (it is always best to have a glass flask when working with essential oils, and if it is dark coloured glass, all the better)
Method:
1) Start by pouring the alcohol into your flask. This is what makes the essential oils soluble in water.
2) Continue by adding the essential oils, and shake the mixture well (after having closed the flask, of course!)
3) Finish the preparation by adding the demineralised water. Close the flask tightly and shake it. Your product is ready to use!
4) Shake well before every use, and spray!
Note: this mixture keeps for 6 months, or perhaps a little more, in an area protected from light and heat (which could damage the quality of the essential oils and cause them to turn).
