A quick and simple way to reduce swelling from a sprain

5/5 - (1 vote)

Sprains are a very common injury and there are approximately 6,000 cases every day (the ankles are particularly vulnerable). We often think of a sprain as a minor injury, but they can be very painful and restrictive nonetheless. They make daily tasks difficult and give a twinge at every twist and turn of the day and night. One of the most irritating aspects can be the swelling that goes with such an injury. This tip (which does not replace medical treatment or the advice of a healthcare practitioner) can help you quickly and easily reduce swelling.

What you need:

  • A basin of hot water
  • A basin of cold water

What to do:

1) Place your foot and ankle in the basin of hot water for a few minutes.

2) Immediately afterwards, put it directly into the cold water for a few moments.

3) Repeat the process four of five times, switching between hot and cold.

You will quickly see a reduction in the swelling.
