Real or fake turquoise. The trick on how to spot the difference

5/5 - (2 votes)

Turquoise is a beautiful ornemental stone of blue colour often used in jewelery or ornamentation. Unfortunately, this stone can easily be copied and fakes are made using tinted blue resin.

 What you need:

A Lighter

How does it work?

1. When purchasing some turquoise and if you want to check that the turquoise is real and not a fake all you will need is a lighter.

2. Pass the stone over the flame quickly. If the stone changes colour or it melts, which does so in very bad quality imitations, the stone is fake turquoise.
