Rough heels: Five natural remedies for soft feet

Rough heels are not very pleasant.  However if you suffer from chapped, dry skin on your feet you won’t be alone.  Our feet endure a lot of pressure everyday and as a result our heels can become fragile and sensitive.  However there are natural remedies to help relieve your heels and make them feel silky smooth again. 

Here are 5 natural remedies that are easy to make. You don’t need much to get you feet back into top condition! .Read on to discover how!

1/ Foot Bath and Pumice stone

What you need:

  • Pumice stone
  • Basin
  • Warm water
  • A little sweet almond oil

Steps:

1) Fill your basin with warm water and place your feet into the water for around 20 minutes.

2) Remove your feet from the water and then scrub your heels for a few minutes with the pumice stone (making sure not to press down too hard).  Your heels will look as good as new!

3) Dip your feet into the water again to remove any dead skin and then dry delicately.

4) Apply a little almond oil and then put on some socks to finish.That is all there is to it!

2 /  A natural oat exfoliator

What you need:

  • 30 g of oats
  • 150 g of jojoba oil

Steps:

1) Mix your ingredients into a bowl until you have made a paste like consistency.

2) Then spread your mixture onto your feet so that you can massage your feet for a few minutes.

3) Leave your feet to rest for 10 minutes and then rinse your feet with warm water.  Ideally you should repeat this process everyday.  You can keep the rest of the paste in a bowl and you can use it when you fancy.

3/ Lemon and glycerin

What you need:

  • A little warm water
  • salt
  • 100 ml of rose water
  • 60 ml lemon juice
  • 100 ml of glycerin
  • A pumice stone and basin

Steps:

1) Heat up the water in a large bowl and add a pinch of salt, lemon juice and glycerin.

2) Mix everything together and then dip your feet into the mixture for 15 minutes.

3) Next dry your feet and delicately scrub your heels with a pumice stone to get rid of any dead skin.

4) In a second bowl mix together the same ingredients except from the water which you should replace with rose water.

5) Mix until you make a paste like mixture and apply onto your heels. Cover your feet with socks and then leave over night.

6)  The next day you should rinse your feet.  Repeat this process for five days and you will notice a difference.

4/  Banana and avocado cream

What you need:

  • Banana
  • Half an avocado (You could use the other half to make some guacamole!)

Steps:

1) Mix all your ingredients together until you get a smooth paste.

2) Apply this cream onto your feet including your heels.

3) Leave on your feet for 45 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

5/ Almond and Coconut Oil

What you need:

  • 100 g of coconut oil
  • 100 g of sweet almond oil

Steps:

1) Mix the two oils and then apply onto your feet

2) Massage your feet for about 7 minute so that the oils can soak into the soles of your feet.  Put on some socks and then leave over night.

3) The next day rinse your feet well and then repeat this process for 6 days.
