If you’ve had a minor tip, but the dent in your car isn’t too serious, then this is the technique for you! Much more practical than using boiling water, a can of compressed cold air can solve your problem. Effective, and much cheaper than going to a garage.
What you need:
- A hair dryer
- A can of compressed cold air
Method:
1/ With the help of your hairdryer, heat the dent in your car.
2/ Once it is heated, the plastic will dilate and expand.
3/ When the plastic is dilated, apply the cold air spray. The intense cold makes the plastic contract and re-set into its initial form, without the dent.
If this doesn’t work, it may be that the dent is too large. You may be able to push the dent back out from the other side, while the plastic is hot (being careful not to burn yourself). Otherwise, seek the help of a panel beater -they use similar techniques to repair dents, and are generally much cheaper than having to change the part.
