Much of our kitchen furniture and fittings are made of formica. It is a beautiful material, but is is clear that you can’t simply use any old product for cleaning it. Abrasive products are completely forbidden. In fact, using the wrong products can make formica lose its colour and shine, and can also damage it. So what can you do when stains appear, and you need to remove dirt without damaging your precious furniture? Here is a little mixture that works a treat every time.
What you need:
- Water
- Rubbing alcohol
- A microfibre cloth
Method:
1) Pour two dessertspoons of rubbing alcohol into a clean container.
2) Add 2 dessertspoons of water.
3) Mix them together.
4) Add some of this mixture to your cloth and use it to gently wipe the surface.
Results: the surface will be deeply cleaned and you won’t have left any scratches. Don’t hesitate to use this mixture on polished, lacquered, melamine or laminated furniture. You can make a flask-full with equal parts water and rubbing alcohol, in order to use it as you see fit.
