Have a good look in your presses – there is bound to be an old can of hairspray hidden somewhere, needlessly taking up space. We don’t often tend to use hair spray, except for special occasions, or if we work in the beauty industry in which we have to be perfectly turned out every day. However, take out your spray can, because today we are unveiling 10 alternative uses for hair spray that you can’t afford not to know!
1) Express drying
After having applied your nail polish, wait a few minutes and spray your manicure with hair spray, holding the nozzle about 20 cm from your hands. Next run your fingers under some cold water. Your nails will dry more quickly and your nail varnish will last longer.
2) Treat leather
Are there stains or scratches on your leather couch that you thought were irreparable? Wrong! You simply need to apply some hair spray to the couch, leave it to work for a few minutes and wipe it down with a soft damp cloth. Finish off with a leather treatment product.
3) Anti-dust
Do your curtains always seem to end up covered in dust? To make them more impermeable, spray some hairspray along the entire length of the curtains. Dust will no longer be able to stick to them.
4) Prevent your feet from slipping in your shoes
Do your feet slip and slide inside your high heels? Apply some hairspray to the soles of your feet or your heels, and they’ll stay well in place inside your shoes!
5) Remove a sticky label
Do you need to remove a particularly sticky label? Are you sick of the glue marks left on the pretty jar you had hoped to reuse? Not to worry, simply apply some hair spray and the job is done! No more need for scrubbing and breaking your nails!
6) Keep your laces tied
Because of the constant movement, perhaps your laces tend to open very easily. The solution is simple: spray the laces with hair spray and don’t worry about them for the rest of the day!
7) Thread a needle
Has your inner seamstress recently been awakened? You may have started out full of optimism, but you’ve already spent a quarter of an hour just trying to get the thread through the eye of the needle! Stop trying your patience, and simply spray the end of the thread with some hairspray. It will slightly harden, and thus become easier to thread.
8) Calm bushy eyebrows
For impeccable eyebrows that stay looking perfect all day, spray some hair spray on to a clean mascara want and use it to brush the spray onto your eyebrows.
9) The perfect bun
Are you on the way to your cousin’s wedding, and despite all of your highest quality hair grips, your bun is becoming undone? Apply some hairspray directly to the hair grips, to help keep the bun more securely in place.
10) A beautiful Christmas tree
To prevent the needles of the tree (or even the Christmas wreath) from falling all over the floor, spray some hair spray to the pine needles. They won’t budge all season long!
